2014 CCA Election Info and Docs

The NIST CCA annual elections are upon us - we have two items on the ballot (a copy is attached below):

1) Election of the BOD positions becoming vacant - We are fortunate to have (11) excellent candidates for the (5) open positions on the BOD (alphabetical by last name): Amber CarlbergSuchismita (Suchi) Chandran,  Amy FoxEric KilpatrickDennis LeberYi-Shian Li-Baboud, Roberta LongLaurel MinerAlan MunterBabak Nikoobakht and Christopher Stafford.

A .pdf of the candidate photos and bios is attached below.

2) Proposed changes to the CCA bylaws.

Context: Several years ago, a Scholarship committee was established to distribute scholarship assistance from the proceeds of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) as a volunteer effort.  Over the subsequent years, the committee has become institutionalized and part of the routine business of the CCC--evaluating scholarship assistance applications, setting the table of assistance vs. household income and making recommendations on awards. The proposed changes would legitimatize the committee as a permanent part of the CCA and insure that the committee would be protected by the CCA's insurance policies in the event of a suit.

Summary of changes: There are changes in several places, most of which are minor, that accomplish two objectives:

1) Establish a scholarship committee, seated by appointment of the CCA President by recommendation of the Director, the members of which would have not voting authority and who would provide recommendations of tuition assistance to the Director. Actual decisions of assistance would be made by the Director. Members of the committee would not be eligible for assistance and generally would not be customers of the CCC.

2) Establish provisional membership status of the CCA, at the discretion of the Director, who would not have voting rights but could serve in volunteer roles (like the Scholarship committee) and receive liability insurance coverage for business conducted on behalf of the CCA.

A complete version of the bylaws with the proposed changes 'tracked' is included below.

In order to seat the BOD and complete the bylaws update, we must have at least 50% of the general membership cast ballots.  So please cast a ballot, even if you just give your vote by proxy to the election chair (Eric Berghoff).

Please find attached a .pdf of the candidate bios, the proposed changes to the bylaws and the ballot.  You can submit your completed or proxy ballot to the ballot boxes in the CCC lobby or vote in person at the general member meeting in Lecture Room C on October 7, 2014.
